Jim

Picture
Hi, my name is Jim. I am approximately 130-135 lbs. (The vet would like to see me go a little lower) I was found wandering at 5:30 am by my current owner in his front yard. I came right up to him because I am a very friendly dog who loves people. I have had all my shots and medications and I do have a chip but the person listed could not be reached or did not acknowledge the attempts by the Will County Animal Shelter. I stay indoors mostly now because of the heat which I do not react well to. I do however like to stay out at night when it is cooler and will usually stay out until I am fed my breakfast and then come in for the day. Hopefully when the weather cools I will stay out in the run that was built for me, Currently I am shedding and you can pull tufts out of me and I don't mind being brushed, except toward my back end. I will let you know when it is time to stop brushing by just walking away. When I was found I was a matted mess and it took the groomer over two hours to get me in decent shape. When I am indoors I will let you know when I need to go out to the bathroom. I drink an awful lot of water which hopefully will let up as the weather gets cooler. I like to go on short walks. I sleep a lot during the day when I am in a cool comfortable place. (The vet estimates that I am 8 years old approximately) Besides food, which is my number one driving force I also love any and all attention. I roll on my back and thrash my legs and twist from side to side to get my stomach rubbed. I also will come up behind you and go between your legs and with my size that can be a real shock sometimes. Ideally I need a home where I can go inside and outside on my own and where someone will be around most of the time to pay attention to me.

If your situation can meet any of these needs please contact my owner at
[email protected].  Jim is located in Will County, IL and is available with a $100 rehoming fee.

Zara

Picture
It is nice to meet you, my name is Zara. I am a one-and-a-half-year-old malamute. I was found running down a street by a very nice lady. She took me to the vet to check if I was chipped, I could have told her that I was not. She checked daily all lost and found dog sites and spread the word about me but no one seemed to miss me. The nice lady and her husband gave me lots of love, treats, got me current on vaccines, and even dared to give me a bath. Best of all, they let me sleep with them.
Unfortunately, I did not like my brothers and sisters; we did not get along one little bit, so I went to a 4 weak training camp. My trainers said I am amazing and now I walk on a leash without pulling, follow commands, and I did master potty training. They slowly tried to introduce me to other dogs of various breeds and sizes but that did not work out as I only want to hang out with my humans.
I have been living and training at the doggy training facility for 2 months now and am ready to go to a new home that will allow me to be the only K-9.
My parents will take me to get spayed. I am up to date on my vaccines and am in great shape and health. I love hanging out with all humans, big and small. I am food motivated and am ready to become part of your family.

Bear

Picture
I am Bear and a tough pup. I am 13 weeks old, up to date on vaccines, and am far along on deworming. I am a malamute/german shepherd mix. Although I am as tough as they get, I love to sit in my mom's lap and be told what a handsome pup I am. So I guess I am sort of an active couch potato. I never skip a wrestling match with my brothers and sisters. My pops said that I was the first one to learn to sit when he asked me to. I do it because he always has a tasty treat to offer.

Mae

Hello, my name is Mae. I am 13 weeks old, up to date on vaccines, and am far along on deworming. I am a malamute/german shepherd mix. Like my brother Bear, I am very active but I also love to lounge and be the center of attention. My superpower is sniffing out where a little morsel of food or treat is hidden. I do try to be a good girl and sit when my mom asks me to. I am eager to learn more commands.

Buck

Picture
Buck was rescued by some good samaritans after being abandoned after a hurricane. Buck is located in Richmond, TX. He does well with people, children and seems to do well with other dogs.  He has really only known living outdoors and is not comfortable inside, though with time may accept being indoors.  However, the climate he currently lives in can make him miserable in the summer, and his rescuers are looking for a more moderate climate for him to live in.  They are willing to help transport him to his new home.  He is neutered and UTD on vaccinations and knows basic obedience.  Buck's ideal home would be active, talking him on walks and hikes, and has the ability to provide outdoor housing for him as well as giving him the patience to adjust to some indoor living.

Koda

Picture
Hi, my name is Koda.  I am about 20 months old and 85#.  I was just spayed on May 28th and have all my vaccinations/preventatives along with no health issues.  My humans brought me home at 4 months, as an older puppy. I am a lean Mal and my fur looks really short in summer when I lose my winter coat.  In winter, I fluff out more but I have beautiful and easy to manage coat.  I have tons of energy but can entertain myself for hours with my squeaker ball or any of my stuffed animals with crinkles and squeaks.  I love belly rubs, walks and car rides.  I love being outside, even in the heat and recently found out I might actually like the lake when I zoomied my way in accidentally.  I know basic commands and my humans have just started to work with me on pulling carts.  We have also done some obedience training and that should continue in my new home.  They also let me off leash in the yard and generally, I listen very well.  I can talk a lot around my humans and I rub up against my humans just like a cat.  I also love being brushed and am fortunate to have a fenced back yard with a pet gate so I go in and out as I please.  I am not crate trained but I stay off the furniture.  I lay on the floor or on one of my pet beds.  I am a big baby and I let my humans play with my paws, take away food & toys, and get all kinds of kisses on my head without any issues.  I love my humans so much but I have had some dominance aggression towards the other dogs in our house.  I would do better as a lone dog in a house with no other pets or children.  Possibly, I would be good with a strong male as I do have dogs I regularly get along with.  I should have a yard and someone around who can give me lots of attention.  Also, the ability to go and out on my own, as that is what I am accustomed to.
