IAMRA does not adopt to anyone under the age of 21.  Although we rarely adopt to persons under 25, these applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  We do not adopt to homes who have electronic fences as the only form of containment. Since malamutes do best with opposite gender when it comes to other dogs, the vast majority of our adoptions will be opposite gender.
IAMRA responds to all inquiries about our dogs, giving up your dog, or information in general via e-mail. Please make sure to check you spam folder if you haven't heard from us within 2 - 3 days.

Kicking Bird (KB) - November 2025

Picture
Poor KB was picked up stray, with a horribly embedded collar. Lucky for him, he was taken to the Animal Hospital of Gurnee where they were able to save his life! KB needed four surgeries to close his wound, and still has a long road ahead of him.  He is a very sweet, loving boy, but does have separation anxiety, we believe he was horribly neglected. He is making great strides in his foster home (Thank you Kim C!).
Donations for his care are greatly appreciated, and we also have a wishlist on Chewy.com:

Sugar - April 2026 - Adoption Pending!!

Picture
SUGAR is a lovely girl that was found by a Good Sam, dumped in rural Missouri, thin and covered (covered!) in ticks.
Thankfully she was able to be transported to us, and she is just the sweetest young girl.
Sugar is in foster – thank you Catherine!

Aleu - April 2026

Picture
ALEU is just a puppy.  She and her sibling found themselves in trouble in a Texas shelter. We quickly agreed to take both pups, sadly her sibling passed away before coming to us ;-(
Aleu is a bit timid, which is to be expected, she has been though a lot.
More as we get to know this precious little girl!
Aleu is in foster – thanks Cynthia!

Ranger - April 2026

Picture
Ranger is a mess. Poor fellow was stray in Texas, being fed by a Good Sam, and then he turned up injured. We agreed to take him – then he disappeared!  Thankfully after a few days, he showed back up and was caught and sent on transport, and is now safe with IAMRA.
Of course poor Ranger is HW positive.  He has an upcoming appointment to further address his injured paw/leg. More as we get to know him.
Ranger is in foster – thanks Cynthia!
